Chianciano Terme, Historic town centre

As the name itself suggests, Chianciano Terme is a thermal and therapeutic resort town whose beneficial properties have been well known since the Etruscan and Roman times, when they permanently occupied the area by building a town. The presence of such a large settlement for the period is due to its strategic location, straddling a pass at 500 metres above sea level where the ancient Rosellana road was located, the main road linking the coastal cities and inland Etruria.
